ZHENDONG-CHEN APPROACH FINAL MATCH WITH OPEN MIND

KUALA LUMPUR (24 Jan 2010) - For Chinese men's doubles pair Guo Zhendong and Xu Chen, they will be approaching their decisive final game in the US$200,000 Proton Malaysia Open Super Series meet later this evening with nothing up their sleeves.

The pair, who dumped Indonesia pair Alvent Yulianto-Hendra Gunawan 13-21, 21-13, 21-13 in the semi-finals yesterday, said that they will be approaching their game with an open mind.

Zhendong-Chen will play home favourite and world No. 1 men's doubles pair Koo Kean Keat-Tan Boon Heong in the final

"It is the first final for us and we are pretty alright, so we do not want to put any pressure on ourselves," said Zhendong.

"What we have learned is not to have any strategy. We just want to play as normally as possible. Previously, we always have a game plan but often it did not work, so we have just learn to play according to our strength - that's all.

"Koo-Tan have been playing together for quite some time, so they are a little more experienced. But we believe that we still have the chance to beat them."

The record between the Chinese pair and the Malaysian pair is one win and one defeat for each.

In the meantime, Indonesian pair Alvent-Hendra said after their semi-final defeat that the speed of the Chinese was hard to handle which led to their downfall.

"It was not easy to go into the attack against their although the wind was a factor in the match," added Alvent.

"Definitely we are not happy with the defeat where now we will have to go back and rethink our strategy."
