Taoming said after their 19-21, 21-18, 21-15 victory over Thomas Laybourn-Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmrk, that for now they are not thinking too far ahead. Or even beyond this week. "We are just happy that we've won our first mixed doubles title together," said Taoming. "Our coach has not decided whether our partnership will survive where there is still no indication if we will continue to play together or as separate pairs which means that our partnership might not even last next week. "So for now, we are just thinking of our first win together and nothing else." The pair had only began their partnership sometime last year but they had already forged a strong understanding by winning the East Asian Games crown. Yawen added that against the Danish pair today, the game was a lot harder than it looked. "They were a tough pair but we did our homework well and we stuck to our gameplan which in the end, made the difference," added In the meantime, Laybourn added that they are disappointed at not having won their first title for the year even though he felt that they generally had a good outing in the Malaysian Open Super Series. "We lost to them last week (at the Korea Open) although this time round, I felt that we should have finished them off in the second set,' added Laybourn. "They attacked real well in the final and we just can't seem to break out of it. For us, the priority now is to defend the World Championship crown we won last year." |
